ANALISA KESALAHAN GRAMATIKAL MAHASISWA DALAM MEMBUAT KALIMAT-KALIMAT SEDERHANA MENGGUNAKAN BAHASA INGGRIS
The design of this research was qualitative research using the descriptive qualitative approach. The participants consisted of 25 students. The main data were obtained from the 25 students’ compositions and the other data were collected from interviews. This study objectives were to (1) obtain the understanding of the students in making simple sentences using simple past tense, (2) the types of grammatical errors in daily activities text and (3) obtain the sources of grammatical errors in using simple present tense at the first semester students of Mining Engineering Study Program, Civil Engineering Department of Banjarmasin State Polytechnic in the academic year 2018/2019. The results of the research show that (1) the students make errors in omission, addition, and misformation ofbe (be, am, is, are, was, were, beeb), do (do, does), have (have, has, had) and modals (can, must, will). (2) The source of error is intralingual errors and interlingual error. (3) The students also make error in using verbs after modal auxiliary. It means that the students still lack in mastering auxiliary verbs.
